My 14-year-old daughter wants to date a junior at her high school. She's only a freshman. Is she old enough to date an upperclassman?

Wow, that's a tough one! I think the answer to this question depends on your daughter. Is she a responsible young lady, and is she honest? Or is she not yet ready to be trusted? Also, has she been on any dates before? All of these things matter. The one thing I'd recommend is to not permit any date where they go someplace in private. Dates should be kept short, and your daughter should have a cell phone where you can reach her at any moment. At some point though, your child must be able to have these experiences in order to become a healthy young adult.

Under no circumstances would I let my young daughter go out with a guy who is that much older! Especially at that age. At 14, she probably has no clue what guys are really after, and everyone knows what's on the mind of a 16-year-old boy!
